Things to Be Kept in Mind While Hiring IT Support Friday, October 1, 2010

IT support services are vital for any company. They provide stability in the day to day working for the company and also ensure that your company does not suffer on account of data and system failures that can occur anytime. It helps to ensure that the stored information remains safe in your company's systems and can be easily recovered without facing any anxieties. Hiring support services not only ensures that you are protected against technical errors but the best companies also prevent such failure before they happen by installing suitable software and applications. It also leaves you to concentrate on other important aspects of your business so that you can specialize in your core competencies.

Technical problems in your company can occur at any moment without prior warning. This makes it all the more important to hire IT support services who are able to look into such problems as and when they occur and precious time of your company is not wasted in finding specialists to repair these errors. With an influx of so many companies providing IT solutions, it can sometimes become quite confusing to determine who to hire with almost all of them offering good quality service at low competitive costs. There are lots of important considerations to be kept in mind while hiring a support team. They include:

1) The first thing is to determine whether the company you are outsourcing to is based locally especially if your company needs a strong IT support system and timely repair of errors. For this purpose, it is essential that the company offering support services is based in your area of operations and is easy to communicate with.

2) It is important to look through various options and obtain feedback from a variety of sources before deciding on what company you want to hire. They should be able to provide high quality services and provide solutions to complicated hardware as well as software problems.

3) In case you need support for hardware, it is essential that the company you hire can send specialists to the company premises to look through any glitches that may occur and especially if there are no employees in your company who can handle such problems.

4) The companies you hire should be available 24/7 through phones and the internet. There should not be any obstacles in contacting them whenever required.

5) Companies that are not locally based should only be hired if only software support is required and that too is useful only at certain times. If the errors are more complicated in nature that cannot be solved only through consultancy, such companies will not fulfil your needs.

6) It is best to avoid looking for support services as and when you need them as this does not guarantee quality in the services offered. Also, it is not necessary that the services you get will be worth the money offered by you.

7) If your company is dependent on its day to day working on IT, it is important to ensure that you hire the best possible company offering IT services.

How Do I Attract Visitors to My Website? Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Here are a few ideas:

Tell everybody you know about your site and tell them to tell their friends.

Make sure your website address is on all of your adverts, leaflets etc.

Give people a reason to go to your site, special offers etc.

Get the email address of everyone you do business with and send them an email at least once a month and include a link or reason for them to visit your site.

Optimise your site for the search engines, (getting your site on Google for free) I personally spoke to a room full of business owners today and hardly any of them use the Yellow Pages, they all use Google when they are looking for stuff so getting your site on the first page of Google is a must these days.

Get going with Google Pay Per Click advertising, it is one of the best forms of paid advertising that exists but many small business owners are not using it. Google PPC ads show up at the very top or on the right hand side of the page when someone searches for your keywords. So if you were bidding for the search term 'Chauffeurs in Nottingham' your ad will show up when someone searches for your search term.

The beauty of Google PPC is that you can target a very specific area, there is very little wastage, you only pay when someone clicks your ad and goes through to your website, and you can get your ads online within minutes. You can also change your ad quickly, test different ads, include a daily budget, pause your ads and restart them very easily.

If we could advertise in Magazines and Newspapers and only pay a small fee every time a potential customer calls us we would all be doing it. Testing Google PPC is a must.

I recently helped one of my clients set up his PPC campaign and he had many enquiries and confirmed jobs within the first week.
